I Build Walls

I build walls:

Walls that protect,

Walls that shield,

Walls that say I shall not yield

Or reveal

Who I am or how I feel.

I build walls:

Walls that hide,

Walls that cover what’s inside,

Walls that stare or smile or look away,

Silent lies,

Walls that even block my eyes

From the tears I might have cried.

I build walls:

Walls that never let me

Truly touch

Those I love so very much.

Walls that need to fall!

Walls meant to be fortresses

Are prisons after all.

In this poem, walls are not made of bricks or any physical materials. The author uses “walls” as a metaphor for someone hiding his feelings and thoughts from others and even from himself.

Another Plane Crash in Texas

Plane crashes into office building in Texas

Reports indicate a small plane has crashed into an office building in Austin, Texas. More to follow as local reports filter in.

Austin, United States - A small, single-engine plane has reportedly crashed into an Austin, Texas building. A nearby building, not involved with the crash, is home to several FBI offices. At this point the FBI believes terrorism is not involved(because pilot it non-Muslim). Firefighters have responded to a 2-alarm fire caused by the crash. The fire is largely contained, but traffic on highway 183 is being diverted. No word on casualties as of yet, although the building is being evacuated. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which could have been the launching point for the aircraft, is 17 miles away.
